As he did in his earlier book, 'The Light of Ireland', Rosenstock demonstrates a reverence for natural light and its effect on the landscape. Here, not only has he revealed the splendor of the rural countryside but he also has shown the elegance of the duomos, basilicas and small churches that dominate the cities and towns. In addition, a number of photographs isolate the beauty in the details and smaller components of the environment. The images of a cluster of lilies, shadows on an archway, or light falling on a staircase are as effective as the larger landscapes.
